Why do Bullies Bully?

A collection of 153 studies on bullying were analyzed. The results identified eight main factors of bullying.

They found that bullies often:

Tended to externalize. For example, they behaved aggressively and were defiant.

Held in unpleasant emotions. As a result, they felt depressed or withdrawn.

Were skilled socially, but experienced academic problems.

Had negative thoughts about others

Had negative thoughts about themselves

Had trouble resolving conflict

Were affected by negative community factors, such as living in neighborhoods with higher crime rates.
