Bio and Credits

Scott T. Walters, Ph.D., is Regents Professor and Chair of Health Behavior and Health Systems at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. As a researcher and educator, his work blends motivational interviewing research, training, and practice. Current projects include brief interventions in hospital, corrections, and community settings.  His publications include 70 articles and book chapters, and five books, including most recently, Treating Substance Abuse: Theory and Technique (3rd Ed.). In addition to research, he has conducted numerous trainings for criminal justice workers, counselors, and healthcare professionals, and served as a consultant on projects to develop Internet and mobile interventions for a variety of health behaviors.
