Consequences of Chronic Anger
Anger triggers a “fight or flight” response. This response causes our adrenal glands to release stress hormones. These hormones cause the body to prepare for a flight. Blood moves away from the digestive system and into the muscles. Heart rate, blood pressure, and respiration also increase. The mind becomes more focused.
This is a natural and healthy response to anger. But for people who have chronic and unmanaged anger, this response can eventually cause harm to many different systems of the body.
