Choosing Not to Drink


On most college campuses, approximately 25-33% of college students choose not to drink.
Here are a few reasons college students give for not drinking:
- I don’t want to be around people who drink too much
- I don’t want to screw around with my athletic scholarship
- I can’t go out all the time and keep up with my studies
- My friends don’t drink
- My parents will kill me if I get in trouble for drinking
- I can’t afford it
- I’m already in trouble for drinking
- Our family has a history of alcohol abuse
- There are all sorts of health reasons not to drink
- I’m under 21 and I respect the law
- I don’t like the taste, buzz, or the way I feel the next day
- Drinking is way down on my list of fun things to do
- I choose not to drink, and it’s the right thing for me
