Human trafficking is commonly referred to as modern-day slavery. Over 20 million men, women, and children around the world are currently being trafficked.
The U.S. government estimates that 14,500 to 17,500 people are trafficked into the U.S. from other countries each year. This estimate doesn’t include people who are trafficked domestically. It is estimated that between 244,000 and 325,000 American youth are at risk of being trafficked in the United States for sexual exploitation.
The current odds of a victim being rescued from the world of trafficking are 1 in 200. We want to change that.
The goal of Red Flags is to build awareness about human trafficking and to empower you to take action. We will not be able to cover every possible scenario, but by the end of this course, you will have a greater understand of trafficking. You will know how to identify a victim of trafficking. You will feel more confident in knowing how to help. You will have resources to take action. You will be able to change the odds.
Red Flags has 3 primary learning objectives. After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify a potential trafficking situation
- Identify a victim of sex trafficking
- Take “next steps” once you’ve identified a victim
